Fiori by Vince Camuto

I am really, really picky about some things. Ok, maybe a lot of things. lol But seriously, I am super picky about fragrances. I can find ones I like well enough to wear them, but I don't necessarily love them. It's hard for me to find fragrances that I really, absolutely love.

Oh but boy did I find one recently!

I stopped in the mall to use a Macy's gift card I had received. When I was younger my friends and I dubbed the ladies in the makeup department "sales ninjas" and to this day that's what we call them. (I don't even remember how it started.) We used to get a kick out of dodging them with their makeup and fragrance samples. Now though, I don't mind letting them show me what new fragrances they have, what the special deals and gift sets are etc.

So when the lovely lady by the perfume counter asked if I'd like to try some new fragrances, even though I already had plans for my gift card, I said sure and sniffed several samples. I liked a Jessica Simpson fragrance a lot - Vintage Bloom if I remember correctly - and didn't care for a couple others. But then she showed me this one. Fiori by Vince Camuto. OH MY STARS.

I fell in love. To the point I let her spritz me with the stuff. And then I told her sadly the perfume just was not in my budget for the day - which it wasn't - and walked away. And I spent the rest of the day sniffing at my wrists where she'd sprayed the sample bottle.

I had to have it. HAD to. It's not only incredible but it's limited edition. *wail* Why is the best stuff always LE?

Here is the description from the Macy's web site: Fiori - meaning 'flowers' in Italian- is a fresh and invigorating summer scent, light and smooth, authentically uplifting. Featuring top notes of luscious pink grapefruit and ripened white nectarine, the heart of Fiori is enriched with sheer iris and dewy freesia, providing a beautiful, purifying backdrop for base notes of rich sandalwood and creamy blonde cedarwood. A soft, contemporary fragrance, Fiori embodies the independent spirit of the Vince Camuto woman. Experience Vince Camuto Fiori with this Limited edition 3.4 oz Eau de Parfum.

My daddy bought me a bottle. Oh how I adore it! The bottle is as gorgeous as the fragrance is!

If I were rich I'd buy a life-time supply of this stuff. I'd love to have an extra couple bottles - I will be so bummed when it's not available anymore. It's so rare for me to really love a fragrance like this. It figures that I find one I love and it is limited edition. *sigh* But, at least I got one bottle of it to cherish! I wish that I could afford to wear this every single day, but since I can't, I am going to reserve this one for special occasions. Or, I'll try to anyway. It smells so good I'm not sure I can stand to have it and not use it!

The craziest thing is I don't usually like floral fragrances. I usually go for "clean" or woody/musky fragrances.

Favorite Things Friday

I love body spray. They're refreshing in hot summer weather, and if you're lucky you can find body spray to match your perfume, or something that will compliment your perfume.

A favorite body spray is Playboy Play It Sexy.

As I have said in the past, I'm no good at describing fragrances. All I can say is that I think this smells really good. And I get a lot of compliments when I wear it. Particularly from men...

Julep Rock Star Hand Creme & Glycolic Hand Scrub

Because I missed the Maven box that included these, I was happy to be able to get them as an add-on to a subsequent box. I really, really wanted to try them!

The Glycolic Hand Scrub is really nice, it leaves my hands feeling super soft. I love that it's gentle enough to use on the face and body as well, and I love to use this weekly as my face scrub! I have sensitive skin so I sometimes hesitate when it comes to face scrubs, but this one doesn't irritate my skin. It leaves me with a nice glow after using it, and doesn't leave my skin feeling dry like some scrubs can.

The hand creme is really nice as well! I adore the tube it's in, it's pretty and is most often tucked into my purse of the day so I can re-apply when needed. I like the fragrance though it is a bit strong and honestly I prefer my lotions to be fragrance free so that they don't clash with my perfume. But that issue aside, this is lovely lotion and I've used it all over not just on my hands. (Yup, I've even used it on my face!) It's really very rich, and you only need to use a tiny bit at a time. It sinks in quickly, and the hydrated feeling lasts pretty well through the day.

These can be purchased separately; the scrub is $23 ($18.40 for Mavens) and the lotion is $20 ($16 for Mavens). Or you can buy them together, Julep calls the set "The Power Couple" and you get both full-sized tubes for $43 (or 34.40 for Mavens). Considering that a little goes a long way, I think the prices are fair for these ones. I sometimes think Julep's products are a bit over-priced for what they are and how they perform. Granted for my budget these still fall under the occasional splurge category, but I still think that they're pretty fairly priced for what they are. I had enough Jules to cover them as my add-on, so getting them that way they were "free". If you've got some Jules saved up and aren't sure what to use them for, I'd say go for the Power Couple as an add-on to your next Maven box. ;-)

Clio Palmperfect Electric Shaver

My trusty Remington Wet/Dry shaver died on me. (Bummer. It was not old or over-used. Oh well.) My beloved Venus Breeze razors cost a stinking fortune. ($16 for 4 refills, or only 3 of the 5-bladed Olay ones which are really really my favorite. WHY?!) So to try to cut back on my shaving costs I decided to pick up this little cutie, which only set me back $9.

As the name implies, it's small and fits into the palm of your hand. It comes in a variety of colors/designs. Being the girly-girl that I am, I chose a pink and purple design.

There are blades on both sides, so it will shave whether you are moving up or down. I find that, as with all the electric shavers I have tried, I tend to get the closest, best shave by using small circular motions with it.

It is powered by two AA batteries and is water resistant. I tend to just use it dry though. It is suitable to use on the legs, under arms, and bikini area. Which is fantastic, because some shavers are only made to be used on one area. The fact that this one can cover all the bases is great!

So far this is holding up well for me though it's not as nice as the Remington I had before. Of course with electric shavers you never get quite as close a shave as you do with a manual razor. I find this one doesn't give me as close a shave as my Remington did, though, and I do tend to have to go over the same spot several times to really make a difference.

Since I'm really only using this to try to help extend time between shaves with my Venus Breeze (far, far too expensive anymore!) razors, the fact that it's not great is ok. If you're hoping to get something to replace manual razors or if you're strictly an electric saver kind of gal and need a new one, you probably want to pony up the dough for something better. This is cheap and cute but based on my experience with it, for anything more than a little between-shaves maintenance this will not do the job.

I think I may be willing to try waxing, actually. I've been looking at some various waxing kits out of curiosity, and they seem like quite an affordable way to go. I'll let y'all know if I try it what I think!
